I went to Simpsons in Edgbaston, Birmingham, with Tegan last summer. Unfortunately I never got time to write about it. I found my photos of our lunch there the other day and thought it seemed a shame to let photos of such beautiful Michelin starred food go to waste. So, here they are ...
To start with Tegan and I were given a basket of warm home-made breads which
included; olive tapenade, goat’s cheese, tomato and fennel, sour dough and
French baguette. We were also served an amuse bouche in a little shot glass which was tomato, pepper
and cous cous gazpacho.
Monkfish with roasted salsify, hazelnuts, samphire, watercress and red wine sauce
Roasted
squab pigeon with peach, dandelion salad, spiced turnips and foie gras
Duo
of Cornish lamb with French beans, globe artichokes, lovage, goat’s cheese, radish
and lamb juice
Fillet
of turbot with squid, Piquillo pepper, sweet corn ravioli, coconut cream, curry
oil and coriander
Pre-dessert - raspberries with basil yoghurt and granola
Lemon
tart with Chantilly, baked meringue and basil ice-cream
Passion fruit
parfait with chocolate creamy, cacao struzzel and warm passion fruit sauce
Petit Fours
The beautiful garden you overlook whilst eating your lunch. We sat out there to drink our tea and coffee.
